Pic of the new Motorola Moto G’s (aka G2) box leaks to the web
In a couple days we’re not only going to be treated to a bunch of exciting IFA announcements, but Motorola will also host its own special event on September 4th in Chicago. At the Chicago event Motorola will formally announce the Moto X+1, Moto 360 and the 2nd generation Moto G.
We’ve already seen several pics of the device and know what to expect in terms of hardware, and now we are getting a look at the device’s shipping box, which was reportedly taken at a Flipkart warehouse in India. As you probably noticed, the box actually refers to the product by the name of Moto G.
So what does this mean? It could be that Motorola is simply keeping the same name for all future generations of the G line, in a somewhat similar fashion to devices like the Nexus 7 (2012/2013). It’s also possible that this is just a logo to denote that it’s part of the “Moto G” family, and that the actual handset may still be referred to as the Moto G2. We really can’t say for sure just yet.
The box art doesn’t really tell us anything new at the device, other than it’s clear that it is about to hit store shelves, likely not too far after its formal announcement this week (at least in India).
For those that need the recap, the next-gen Moto G is expected to offer up a 5-inch 720p display, a higher resolution 8MP cam, front-facing speakers, microSD, a quad-core Snapdragon 400, 1GB RAM and 16GB storage. Pricing of the handset is expected to be similar or slightly more than the original Moto G.
